| Dr. Brandt r3p eye |
|
Overview
Dr. Brandt is well-known in the cosmetic industry, especially since the publication of his best-selling book, Age-Less, provided an insider’s look at plastic surgery, resurfacing techniques and other methods used by cosmetologists to help people look younger. Based on his more than 40 years of experience in the field, Dr. Brant offers his own line of cosmeceutical products, many of which follow the discoveries he made while working with cancer and leukemia patients. Dr. Brandt recently released a new treatment for the eye, called r3p eye.
Featured Ingredients
According to the company’s web site, Dr. Brandt’s r3p eye helps to diminish dark circles, under-eye puffiness and crow’s feet thanks to its unique set of clinical ingredients and botanical compounds. The formula contains two types of peptides, which are chained proteins that signal the skin to produce more collagen or relax its muscular contractions, many of which can lead to crow’s feet and other types of wrinkles near the eyes. There is some positive evidence suggesting that peptides do have a beneficial effect on wrinkles, but these effects tend to be supported when these peptides are also combined with other collagen-stimulating compounds (like Glucosamine Complex) or moisturizing ingredients (like Hyaluronic Acid). Unfortunately, Dr. Brandt’s r3p eye contains neither of these ingredients.
The formula apparently reduces dark circles and puffiness due to its unique combination of natural compounds, such as green tea, white tea and grape seed extracts. While these natural nutrients will probably produce a protective effect on skin, we are not aware of any research illustrating their effects on dark circles or puffiness. To enhance the anti-puffiness effect, Dr. Brandt’s r3p eye contains caffeine, which probably will help reduce puffiness. Unfortunately, caffeine can also dry out the skin and undermine any moisturizing effect produced by the formula’s other ingredients.
Web Site Description
The Dr. Brandt web site is quite impressive in terms of its design and approach. It definitely captures the personality of the man behind the company, and overall the site has a fresh and modern approach to skin care. We appreciate the fact that the company includes a full list of ingredients, which is helpful for conducting our reviews. In addition, it is easy to order products through the web site, and there are other useful links, including some of the latest news about the company and other resources to find a skincare professional nearest to you. Unfortunately, one area that we saw lacking was the web site’s general omission of clinical research - both on the individual ingredients or the finished products themselves. Without this kind of data, it is difficult to evaluate the real-world effects and determine whether r3p eye actually performs well compared to similar products.
Positives
- Dr. Brandt has an impressive personal background and medical history- The web site contains a full listing of product ingredients
Negatives
- We may not agree with caffeine as an ingredient for puffiness
- The web site does not contain any customer survey data on the product’s effects
- No free trial of product is available
Conclusion
We continue to applaud Dr. Brandt and his staff for their continued efforts in taking a fresh approach to skin care. We hope that they continue to add more information to their web site, since we have yet to become convinced that the r3p eye formula is the best choice for dark circles, crow’s feet or under-eye puffiness. Hopefully they can put our doubts to rest one day.

| Neostrata |
|
Overview
Neostrata is an international cosmetic company that is known as one of the foremost promoters of products containing Alpha-Hydroxy Acids, which are known for their skin resurfacing abilities, at a fraction of the price of spa treatments. Neostrata has three main brands - Exuviance, Cover Blend and NeoCeuticals - all of which take a slightly different spin on skin rejuvenation. The company also offers treatments for skin conditions such as acne and rosacea, but we were primarily concerned with their eye treatment formulas. Neostrata currently offers two separate formulas for the eyes - Brightening Bionic Eye Cream and Hydrating Lift Eye Complex.
Featured Ingredients
Brightening Bionic Eye Cream is formulated to make the skin around the eye are look younger and more youthful by brightening. The formula contains Pro-Vitamin A, Vitamin K and Cucumber Extract to help reduce dark circles and combines these compounds with polyhydroxy acids (PHAs) for reducing fine lines and wrinkles. While we are aware that Vitamin K and Cucumber can enhance circulation to the eye area and thus improve skin brightness (as well as having a mild effect on puffiness), we are not familiar with any research on Pro-Vitamin A and its brightening effects. Unfortunately, Neostrata does not provide any science to support use of this ingredient.
Hydrating Lift Eye Complex is meant to both hydrate and soothe the skin near the eye area in the hopes that skin will become brighter, diminish puffiness and reduce fine lines. This formula contains many of the same ingredients as the Brightening Bionic Eye Cream (PHA and Provitamin A) but also adds Pro-Vitamins C and E for additional antioxidant protection. Unfortunately, we see nothing truly different than the other formula, therefore the researchers at EyeWrinkleReviews.com have to wonder whether this product will truly add more moisture to the skin nor provide any sort of lift as expected.
Web Site Description
Neostrata’s web site is quite massive in comparison to other companies within this industry. Mainly this is due to the fact that the company markets three separate brands of skin formulas, all of which are listed and described on this one central web site. Thus, it may take some time for the typical visitor to find the information needed. Especially those who are looking for the Neostrata eye treatments, it may take several minutes to find such products. While the descriptions are clear and straight-forward, we did not find the additional research material needed to substantiate the company’s claims that the ingredients in these two formulas could in fact brighten the skin or produce any of specific eye-area rejuvenation. The company does have plenty of customer testimonials and products can be purchased directly from the web site, but no free trial is available.
Positives
- Large company that offers dozens of skin-care products- Plenty of customer testimonials
Negatives
- No research posted supporting these two treatments and their specific effects on the eye
- Neostrata does not offer a free trial of its products
- Both products seem nearly identical, leading to potential confusion over which to choose
- While AHAs can exfoliate skin, they also lead to dryness and irritation in many cases
Conclusion
Even though Neostrata must have a certain degree of success, judging from the sheer number of products that it offers, we simply cannot recommend formulas that contain AHAs, especially since the company does not share any research showing how its formulas will specifically battle aging in the eye area.

| Stripeptin |
|
Overview
Based in Naples, Florida, Nutritional Science Laboratories has been operating since 1993, when it began the Stripeptin line of cosmetic formulas. Although we have seen plenty of online advertisements for Stripeptin products, we cannot vouch for the company’s reputation for distributing quality products, since most of its products are available through third-party affiliates. Stripeptin currently offers two separate formulas for the eye area, one called Stripeptin-DC (for dark circles) and the other called Stripeptin-PE (for puffiness).
Featured Ingredients
Stripeptin-DC is intended to reduce dark circles by using methods employed by other cosmeceutical formulas. According to the company, this formula contains a blend of enzymes that are supposed to help break down pooled blood and other materials that can cause dark circles to form. The formula also contains peptides that are supposed to strengthen the collagen fibers that keep skin firm and tight, while also producing signals that keep muscles contractions from occurring in the hopes of diminishing the formation of fine lines and wrinkles. Unfortunately, Stripeptin does not disclose while enzymes or peptides are included in the Stripeptin-DC formula, so we cannot evaluate its effectiveness.
Stripeptin-PE is formulated to help reduce the appearance of puffiness and under-eye bags. According to Nutritional Science Laboratories, the formula contains a mixture of bioflavonoids, peptides, moisturizers and firming agents that are supposed to calm swollen skin and help reinforce skin to keep puffiness from occurring. However, the company does not specify what the actual ingredients in the formula are, nor does it provide any scientific substantiation for its claims. The team at EyeWrinkleReviews.com is beginning to wonder whether Nutritional Science Laboratories is nothing more than a clever nickname, since the company seems intent on hiding the ingredients in its formulas, which we find troublesome.
Web Site Description
The Stripeptin web site does a good job of providing plenty of material, except perhaps for the most important information of all. The web site does contain plenty of testimonials and before/after photos of those who have used the products, as well as a clear explanation of how the formula is supposed to work. We also were pleased to find that the product can be tried free for 14 days. Unfortunately, none of this information makes up for the fact that the company does not reveal the specific ingredients in its products, which to us raises serious questions about the integrity of the company and its marketing methods.
Positives
- Plenty of customer testimonials and a clear description of the products- Free trial is available for both eye formulas
Negatives
- No ingredients are revealed; product cannot be evaluated for effectiveness
- Company does not disclose the results of any testing, if any has been conducted
- Lack of research on the products and its ingredients raise serious questions
Conclusion
Even though both Stripeptin formulas seem to be intriguing products for trying to get rid of dark circles and under-eye puffiness, we cannot recommend either Stripeptin-DC or Stripeptin-PE until the company reveals what ingredients are included in the formulas.

| EyeVive |
|
Overview
EyeVive is apparently produced and marketed by a company called Dermastetics, but after an exhaustive search of our resources and the Internet, the team at EyeWrinkleReviews.com could not come up with very much information about the company. That being said, we were still determined to review this product, since it does seem to have a fairly visible presence on the Internet, and is available for purchase at many online stores, including Bodesource.com. This site actually contained more information about the product than the EyeVive web site itself, but it was helpful to compare the details and make a judgment of the product.
Featured Ingredients
EyeVive combines many different ingredients to help reduce fine lines, diminish dark circles and decrease under-eye puffiness. For example, it contains many different kinds of peptides - including Pamitoyl Tetrapeptide-7 - which are intended to relax the facial muscles and reduce the potential for skin to wrinkle and form crow’s feet. In addition, EyeVive contains Chrysin (a citrus fruit extract) and Algae concentrate, which are included to calm swelling in the eye area and improve circulation to the eye area skin, which may moderately decrease puffiness and improve color in the skin.
Unfortunately, EyeVive does not spend much time discussing these ingredients or illustrating how they can produce the kind of effects that customers may want for dark circles, puffiness or crow’s feet. Most of the information on the EyeVive site and the third-party retailers that sell the product focus on the problems that can contribute to eye area problems and what the product is intended to do. However, most of the information about the ingredients was based on our own research and knowledge about products that contain similar ingredients.
Web Site Description
As mentioned, the EyeVive web site spends more time discussing the problems associated with eye-area skin aging and how the product can help. But it spends very little time discussing the ingredients in the formula, how they work or what scientific research supports their usage. The site does contain some before and after photos, which show some of the potential effects of the formula, but they seem a bit “doctored” to us, calling into question the company’s integrity. No free trial is available and products can only be purchased by visiting a separate online store, which may be a hassle for most customers.
Positives
- Some of the ingredients are known for positive effects on aging skin- Some testimonials are provided on third-party retail stores
Negatives
- Company does not include any research on its ingredients
- Web site contains very little information about the product itself
- Products cannot be purchased directly from the web site; no free trial offered
Conclusion
Even though we are aware that some of the ingredients in EyeVive can help helpful effects on dark circles and other signs of aging near the eye, that is due mostly to our own efforts rather than any information provided by the company. For this reason - and the fact that consumers are expected to purchase EyeVive from separate online retailers - we are hesitant to recommend EyeVive.

Currently, the Dermitàge Eye Renewal Collection remains the top choice among readers of this web site. According to our research, this is one of the only systems that offers separate formulas for wrinkles, fine lines, dark circles and puffiness - all working in harmony to address the major signs of aging that occur near the eye. In addition, Eye Renewal Collection is one of the only eye systems to include a special formula for thickening and strengthening eyelashes, which is an oft-forgotten aspect of eye aging.
