Overview
B Kamins, Chemist was founded by Canadian chemist Ben Kaminsky, who created the company to “bridge the gap” between discoveries in the laboratory and the doctor’s office, where most customers find their specific cosmetic solutions. The company is known for its original formulations, such as its Bio-Maple compound, a moisturizing and antioxidant extract and its Profusion Ceramide, a specific type of skin plumping molecule intended to fill in fine lines and wrinkles. B Kamins offers dozens of skincare products, including formulas intended to treat acne and rosacea, in addition to a full line of products for premature skin aging. Like many such companies, B Kamins offers a specialty formula for the eye area, although it has yet to devise a system. Nevertheless, the team at EyeWrinkleReviews.com decided to evaluate B Kamins Therapeutic Eye Cream.
Featured Ingredients
B Kamins Therapeutic Eye Cream seems primarily intended to address dark circles and the kind of bruising that can afflict the eye are and make skin look darker than desired. To accomplish this goal, the formula contains the company’s unique Bio-Maple compound. According to the company, this processed extract of maple trees was developed after 30 years of research. Bio-Maple apparently not only contains nutrients that act as antioxidants for skin protection, but is also works as a moisturizing ingredient, helping retain moisture in the skin in order to prevent and reverse many of the signs of skin aging. Unfortunately, we are not of any research that suggests that this ingredient will reduce dark circles. The enhanced moisturization could conceivably improve overall skin tone and smoothness, but we’re still not convinced that this will do anything for dark circles.
B Kamins Therapeutic Eye Cream also contains a mixture of vitamin C, vitamin K, Hyaluronic Acid and hesperdin, which is the active ingredient found in Horse chestnut. Hesperedin has traditionally been used for varicose veins and other circulation problems, so a combination of this nutrient along with the other protective and moisturizing compounds mentions could theoretically improve blood flow to the eye and counteract a major cause of dark circles. Unfortunately, the B Kamins does not post any research verifying this effect. In addition, the formula does not contain any light diffusing or light emitting ingredients to further reduce the appearance of dark circles, nor does it address under-eye puffiness, crow’s feet or other signs of aging that can specifically impact the eye area.
Web Site Description
The B Kamins web site is well done, from a design standpoint. Products are logically categorized and easy to find, although the number of different products offered for the same effect might be confusing to some visitors. But information is provided in a straight-forward manner, even though we would have liked to have seen more scientific research information on B Kamin’s unique ingredients posted. Products can be purchased directly from the site, so finding them is easy - but no free trial is offered and some customers may find the prices high compared to other products in the same category.
Positives
- Bio-Maple does have promise as a moisturizing ingredient- Company has a fairly solid reputation among skincare professionals
Negatives
- No research posted to verify formula’s effects on dark circles
- Formula apparently does not affect crow’s feet, under-eye puffiness or improve eyelashes
- No free trial of the product is offered; price is high ($98)
Conclusion
While many of our colleagues have had success using B Kamins products, especially its specialty formulas for acne and rosacea, we feel that the Therapeutic Eye Cream may have too limited of a function for most customers. Since this product is primarily intended for dark circles, most clients will have to purchase additional formulas to address other signs of aging near the eye.
